The battle for the soul of Borinquen began with the Spanish Exploiters in 1493, leading to invasions by subsequent colonialists, all attempting to eradicate the Taino spirit, which can never be subjugated, which spirit will always rise above its oppressors because it has always been liberated, despite the attempts by subjugators to eliminate the country or change its name to Puerto Rico to erase its identity, because Borinquen will always rise above it while the conquistadors will always remain beneath it.
