Esmeralda, Take Care of The Teddy Bears Of Your Soul

Esmeralda, Take Care of The Teddy Bears Of Your Soul

26” x 36” Watercolor and acrylic on paper
1991

Many years ago I had a dream about a beautiful man whom I loved. In the dream we were harmoniously and patiently cooking and stirring a delicious stew in a large metal pot. We were surrounded by people. Perhaps we were cooking for a gathering. There was a young pretty woman that kept coming up to the beautiful man coquettishly asking him questions. He would smile and nod but continued to stir the stew. After several vain attempts to capture the attention of this man the pretty girl became angry that she could not engage him. It was then that he looked up from stirring the pot and said to me, "take care of the teddy bears of your soul". I looked at him and smiled because I knew he meant me and the future baby within me.
